CAMBODIA ITINERARY (7 DAY)
DAY 1 | Phnom Penh to Kep | About 220 km
Leave the bustling capital of Phnom Penh and head south to Kep National Park. The route passes through agricultural areas dotted with Cambodia’s famous rice fields, offering unique views of Khmer villages and rural life as it follows the border with Vietnam. Visit Phnom Bayang, a 7th-century Hindu temple. Overnight accommodation in Kep.
DAY 2 | Kep to Kampot | About 130 km
We leave Kep to visit the world-famous pepper-growing region of Kampot, where we learn how pepper is produced. Lunch in Kampot is followed by a fantastic ride up Bokor Mountain to Bokor Hill Station, which sits at 1,100 m and features spectacular scenery and cool mountain air. We return to Kampot in the evening, followed by an exploration of the provincial capital’s many restaurants.
DAY 3 | Kampot to Tatai River | About 230 km
Head north into the Cardamom Mountains with a destination of the Tatai River, where a longboat will take us to the Tatai Waterfall for a refreshing swim and our riverside accommodation.
DAY 4 | Tatai/Koh Kong to O’Soam | About 160 km
A very exciting day as we head deep into the rugged Cardamom Mountains, a jungle area so dense that logging is virtually impossible, making it an ideal location for wildlife and nature sanctuaries. Arrive in the remote jungle hamlet of O’Soam, where we stay beside a rural lake, surrounded by nature, and dine on traditional Cambodian food.
DAY 5 | O’Soam to Pursat | About 170 km
A very scenic ride through the Cardamom Mountains and remote villages. Arrive in the town of Veal Veng for lunch. Our final destination for the day is Pursat, where we can wash off the dirt in our hotel swimming pool.
DAY 6 | Pursat to Battambang | About 180 km
Head south to the floating villages of Krakor, where we will explore by boat the centuries-old fishing traditions of Tonle Sap Lake. Lunch in Battambang city is followed by a late-afternoon ride on the famous Battambang Bamboo Train. In the evening, explore this beautiful French colonial-style city. Overnight in resort-style accommodation with a swimming pool. The night markets along the river offer excellent local food.
DAY 7 | Battambang to Siem Reap | About 175 km
Arrive around midday, giving us plenty of time to visit the Angkor Wat temples in the afternoon and early evening. The temples are certainly one of the highlights of any visit to Cambodia.
