CAMBODIA ITINERARY (10 DAYS)
DAY 1 | Phnom Penh to Kep ( Kep Province) | 180 – 220km
The first day of our Cambodia adventure starts in the hustle and bustle of Phnom Penh. We join the throngs of motorbikes and make our way out of the city. It’s not long before we get into the countryside and start to see rural communities. After a traditional Khmer lunch, we continue south to the Vietnamese border with Cambodia, where we head west for Kep, a beautiful coastal town and our destination.
DAY 2 | Kep to Kampot (Kampot Province) | 160 – 180km
This is another great day’s ride with a visit and tour of one of Kampots’ world famous pepper farms. Some off-road riding takes us through the pepper and mango farms to Secret Lake for cool drinks and a relax by this beautiful lake. After lunch and weather permitting, we ride to the top of Bokor Mountain in the Bokor National Park. A night in Kampot with its fantastic restaurants is always fun.
DAY 3 | Kampot to Tatai ( Koh Kong Province) | 230 – 270km
A long but varied ride to Tatai River through the Tatai Wildlife Sanctuary and the start of the Cardamom Mountains, so called as the Cardamom plant grows naturally here. A boat will take us for a river cruise to the beautiful Tatai Waterfall and a well deserved swim before arriving at our accommodation on the river.
DAY 4 | Tatai to Osoam (Veal Vieng District ) | 140 – 170km
A boat ride takes us back to our bikes and we head to the town of Koh Kong. A visit to our favourite fishing village where we are warmly welcomed, is a great chance to supply the community with reading and writing books for the local children. After lunch we prepare for our ride into the beautiful Cardamom Mountains. Our destination for the night is the remote village of Osoam. A great opportunity to spend time experiencing this wonderful area.
DAY 5 | Osoam to Pursat ( Pursat Province) | 200 – 240 KM
We ride out of the Cardamom Mountains into the small town of Pramouy. This is a great coffee stop and always busy with trade from Thailand being just a few kilometres away. After fuelling up our bikes we ride to our accommodation in Pursat, with swimming pool, spa, and massage facilities.
DAY 6 | Pursat to Battambang (Battambang Province) | 160 – 180km
Lots of highlights today with an early visit to the one of the biggest and varied markets in Cambodia. After breakfast we ride south to the amazing Kompong Luong Floating Village. We are taken by long boat to explore the village. Get your cameras ready as photo opportunities are everywhere. The Tonle Sap Lake is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia. Our next stop after lunch will be the Battambang Bamboo Train and a ride on these fantastic open flatbeds invented by locals for transportation after the fall of the Khmer Rouge. We stay in Battambang and relax with cold beers and a swim in our hotel pool after a long day’s ride.
DAY 7 | Battambang to Siemreap ( Siem Reap Province) | 175 KM
Our ride this morning takes us around the Tonle Sap and into Cambodia’s 2nd largest city and of course the Angkor Wat Temples. Siemreap apart from the wonderful temples is a foodie’s delight with many restaurants and pubs. The afternoon is free to do your own exploring and a good opportunity to visit the temples on a small tour. However we recommend the next day to really enjoy this UNESCO World Heritage site.
(We can arrange an English speaking guide and Tuk Tuk for half a day or a full day. Cost is $37USD pp for temples admission & Tuk Tuk $30USD 4 person).
DAY 8 | Siem Reap (Free Day)
DAY 9 | Siem Reap to Kampong Thom (Kampong Thom Province) | 185km
After a morning ride through the traditional villages on the outskirts of Siem Reap we visit the stilted village of Kampong Khleang. We leave the bikes parked up for a wonderful boat trip to see once again up close, how approximately 6,000 people make a living off the Tonle Sap Lake. The afternoon ride takes us to another land-based fishing village (road permitting) and then onto Kampong Thom.
DAY 10 | Kampong Thom to Phnom Penh | 180km
Final day ride from Kampong Thom into Phnom Penh arriving in the early afternoon for celebratory beers and stories.
